Rodrigo: Hello, listeners of ONDA PINAR. Hera starts Erasmus Plus programme, a programme carried out by students from the five educational centers participating in the Erasmus Plus Project "What are your concerns and hopes about the future?" to share learning. A program of our school radio ONDA PINAR that is part of the Erasmus Plus Project of our high school.

Ada: We remind you that the centers participating in this Erasmus Plus project are the German Kaufmännische Schule, the Swedish Västerviks Gymnasium, the Polish szkoly katolickie w Plocku, the French lycée Pierre Poivre and the Spanish IES Pinar de la Rubia in Valladolid.

Rodrigo: In today's program we are going to reflect on how to achieve a better future for the European Union.

Ada: And we have divided it into three sections.

Rodrigo: Now, we listen to the German song “Whatever” by CRO.

Julian Lindemann

Julie Elmina

Maja Krajewska

Lova Almqvist

Elisa Álvarez: Good morning, first of all we are going to introduce ourselves. My name is Elisa Álvarez and I am a student of the IES Pinar de la Rubia.

Julian: Hello, my name is Julian Lindemann and I am a student at the Kaufmännische Schule.

Julie: Hello, my name is Julie Elmina and I am a student at the lycée Pierre Poivre.

Lova: Hello, my name is Lova Almqvist and I am a student at Västerviks Gymnasium.

Maja Krajewska: Good morning, my name is Maja and I am a student at the szkoly katolickie Wplocku.

Elisa: Why do you think the Ukraine has been invaded?

Julian: Before, Ukraine belonged to the USSR, and currently, since the Soviet Union is divided, perhaps it was an extreme patriotic ideal that led Putin to carry out that invasion, apart from Ukraine being a strategic point. Ukraine also wanted to join NATO, which would mean that Putin would have NATO as a neighboring country, which he did not agree with. Thus, getting NATO not to accept Ukraine due to the threats and sanctions imposed by Putin.

Maja: Is the war going to stop or not?

Lova: In my opinion, this war is going to take a long time because Putin has made a large part of the world dependent on Russia due to the supply of gas and more resources.

Julie: What do you think it would take for this war to end?

Elisa: We believe that for this war to end, it would be necessary to reach an agreement between NATO, Ukraine and Russia.

Julian: Why do you think history repeats itself?

Maja: I think that the ideal of superiority of some leaders ends up unleashing a war since the citizens, dissatisfied with the current government, think that an extremist government is the only solution, thus electing a very territorial government, eager to expand its territory and control as much territory as possible.

Lova: Do you think there is any possible solution to reduce or even stop the deaths caused by war?

Julie: A possible solution to stop the deaths would be the withdrawal of Zelenski. But that would mean Ukraine losing its chance to join NATO.

Elisa: Related to the previous questions, do you think that a person's future is predetermined by where they are born?

Julian: Absolutely, today the future of human beings depends on where they come from, since little by little resources are running out and, in some places, they do not exist and that is why many countries depend on others, and from there Many conflicts arise, such as the current one between Urania and Russia.

Julie: What will/might come next?

Maja: Probably World War III, an economic crisis or a revolution in the Russian population, which is not accepting the acting of Putin.

Elisa: What are the consequences for Europe and Democracy in Europe?

Julie: Conservative right- wing parties could get more votes. As well as totalitarian governments might be on the uprise. So, it's really important to believe and hold on to the European mind which stands for democracy and togetherness.

Lova: Thank you very much for coming.

Tilda Sundell

Elisa Ortega: Good morning, we, the students in charge of the second section, are also going to introduce ourselves. My name is Elisa Ortega and I am a student of the IES Pinar de la Rubia.

Santiago: Hello, my name is Santiago Wengert and I am a student at the Kaufmännische Schule.

Léa: Hello, my name is Léa Chauvin and I am a student at the lycée Pierre Poivre.

Wiktoria: Good morning, my name is Wiktoria Rokicka and I am a student at the szkoly katolickie W Plocku.

Tilda: Hello, my name is Tilda Sundell and I am a student at Västerviks Gymnasium.

Elisa Ortega: First of all, the most important thing is medical care. Because we have to focus on people’s needs because if we don’t take care of them, they can’t take care of the countries. In Spain we don’t pay for the health care, we have taxes like in Germany and a card like in the Réunion.

Santiago: In Germany we have to pay taxes that covers the health care and other things like road buildings. Another improvement we have is that it should be easier to get heath care in the EU if you’re like a tourist as you’re from a country that is a member of the EU.

Léa: In the Réunion we also have public health care that is free, it’s mandatory to have a health care card. The administration is called social security and, in the administration, you pay less for medicine if you have the card.

Wiktoria: In Poland we have to pay for private health care because the public hospitals are full, and you have to wait for about 2 to 3 years to get the medical care you need. We go to the reception and get an appointment in a year in the future.

Tilda: In Sweden we pay high taxes and like other countries you get free health care because of it. Our group has ideas about how to improve the health care for the EU, like every country should have similar rules about payment with health care.

Elisa Ortega: But, without a doubt, there are many other topics that must be improved in order to effectively have a true European Union.

Tilda: You're right, the list is endless. For example, does the European Union have an effective immigration policy? Is it capable of avoiding racist and xenophobic populism?

Léa: And what about the energy problem that has become so complicated with the invasion of Ukraine? And what about to improve the transport?

Wiktoria: And what about unemployment and social inequalities? We have to build a European Union that, in addition to the economy, is concerned with social problems.

Santiago: And we are left with many other problems to solve and that we cannot ignore. It is up to us young people to continue building a true European Union that defends Human Rights and the values of democracy.

SECTION 3 – Youth and education: beyond Erasmus

Presenter:
Ada Ominska

Ada: Thank you guys. We just listened to the Polish song “Chwile jak te” by Kamil Bednarek. I hope you liked it. In this third and last section of the program we will talk about Youth and education: beyond Erasmus. I give way to Ane Picazo.

Siri Hallberg

Ane: Hi, I'm Ane Picazo and I'm a student at IES Pinar de la Rubia. Erasmus projects have a great impact on us as students, as people and as young Europeans. We came into some ideas to improve the Education in the European Union, and this is how it turned out. In Spain we have thought about ways of unificating the school’s level by teaching the same subjects and making us the same exams so we all have more or less the same knowledge. Also, we thought that all countries in Europe should have access to the same technology so then we can have the same opportunities to find job and study in another country, and related to that, I think that in each school, they should dedicate at least one week to explain us how the jobs are organized and how they work in other countries so we can be informed just in case we want to find a job abroad.

Benedikt: Hello, my name is Benedikt Bader and I am a student at the Kaufmännische Schule Heidenheim. Indeed, the Erasmus Plus project, for all of us, young people, students and Europeans, has transmitted the values and the feeling of belonging that can only be achieved by discovering the bond that unites us with people who, although they have different cultures, have the same European nationality. It is true that we do not live in a perfect Europe, but we must continue to work and try to build bridges instead of walls. To achieve that, programs are needed. For instance, “Euroscola” offers students annually the opportunity to slip into the role of a MEP. Moreover, European Youth Parliament: Increases motivation to take part on a political and societal level. Nevertheless, my personal favorite is Discover EU that offers free train tickets for a travel through Europe to get to know different cities and landscapes to gain international experience.

Siri: Hello, my name is Siri Hallberg and I am a student at Västerviks Gymnasium in Sweden. I joined the Erasmus project to meet with people from other parts of the world and learn about their culture and country. I was very lucky to get a chance of travelling to Spain through the Erasmus project, unfortunately that’s not possible for everyone which is why we need to use other ways of uniting together. I also believe in using programs to get the European countries to cooperate with a positive attitude. European Solidarity Corps is one of my suggestion of programs to use. It provides financial help for young people wishing to study abroad. Another program that is contributing to a united Europe is Europeers.

Lucie: Hello, my name is Lucie Bénard and I am a student at the lycée Pierre Poivre. The importance of democracy as the central pillar of our society and guarantor of the rights and freedoms of the citizens of the European Union is undeniable, and without a doubt, all young Europeans must feel the democratic responsibility to defend freedom and build a better European Union, a relatively current reality for which past generations have had to fight and for which we must continue to fight in the future.

Julia: Good morning, my name is Julia Zareba and I am a student at the szkoly katolickie W Plocku. In my opinion a good idea to improve the education in the European union is for the Erasmus club to involve more countries from Europe not only 5 so we would get a better chance to know each other cultures. We also came up with another good idea is that maybe after finishing the project we could get a special certificate from the union that would help us in the future with finding jobs and getting into our dream universities.
